Leavenworth’s Ski Hill has a chronic spring runoff problem. To identify potential solutions to reduce flooding, the Chelan County Flood Control Zone District commissioned a study to identify alternatives. Perteet supported the alternatives development and led the public outreach process. Initially, the County planned to present and select an alternative in a robust in-person public involvement program. However, due to COVID-19, this plan was not possible. Instead, Perteet developed a story map to describe the problem, the process, and the alternatives in an interactive, online format. A survey collected the thoughts of the public. The outreach process had excellent participation and provided the information needed by the Flood Control Zone District to select an alternative.
